If you look at stats of iPhone popular games you notice some things. Most use the Accelerometer and the involve a math library and some game engine. first, from the j2me side Martin Wells has a good  introduction to coding game  engines, called J2ME Game Progamming. Right now some of the Android specific components are unfinished, but they are:

-Tile engine, JuicyGames @GoogleCode

-PhysicsEngine, AndorodBox2D a port of Box2D @GoogleCode

-Beatronics(Fixed-Point Math Lib) FPMath, modified in this post

For scripting the engine, something light say Hecl which now has directions of how to use it on Android.
